About Sunrooms

A wonderful addition to your home is a sunroom which offers a superb view of the outdoors as well as letting in natural light specially during summer. There are many kinds of sunrooms to choose from like the knee-wall rooms, solariums and conservatories, seasonal sunrooms and screened patios.

Knee-wall rooms
Rooms have glass walls with a knee-high wall that runs from the ground to the windowsill. Knee-walls offers a great view of the outdoors and moderate privacy. It will also allow you to run electrical wires in the wall that can not be done in an all-glass wall.

Solariums and conservatories
Also known as green rooms, these type of sunrooms are great because it can be used all year round because it is insulated and can be heated or air conditioned as needed. This type of sunroom can be built with a knee-wall or full-length glass.

Seasonal sunrooms
As the name suggests, this type of sunroom is seasonal and usually have single pane glass windows and are not heated or air conditioned. Seasonal sunrooms can only be used during spring, summer and fall.

Screened patios
These are good to enjoy the outdoors when the weather permits. The sunroom id covered with mesh screen to allow fresh air to flow into the room. Of all the sunrooms, this is the most cost-efficient.

Before deciding on the type of sunroom to build, you must consider three important factors that will determine the type of sunroom you build. These are the amount of glass you want to use, how many seasons you plan to you the sunroom and lastly, whether or not you want to create new space or alter an existing space.
