The basic requirement for traditional decoration is the color palette. This will give your house a Victorian look. The more muted the color, the better it is for the overall setting. Neutral hues and jewel tones on the wall will be great or an interesting wall paper to add drama. Vivid designs and motifs for the wall paper will make up for the lack of bright colors.

You can choose this type of furnitures in antique shops that houses early 20th century pieces. Most such pieces will be wooden with special details in the legs. The ornamentation on these traditional furniture items alone could make the room look beautiful. The downside of this is that the furnitures will be heavy due to the use of hard woods like mahogany and walnut.

To add a personal touch and regal look, mirrors with detailed frames and portraits with elegant frames can be added.  Many other types of accessories like statues, tapestries and flower vases can be used to add to the formal look.
