French Doors

There are many different types of doors and French doors are one of the popular types. French doors are made from individual small pieces of glass held together with wood, fiberglass or aluminum. The glass panels in the door provide a lovely view of the outside world when closed that’s why French doors are said to bring the outdoors into your home.

French door frames can be wooden, metallic or fiberglass. Wooden frames will lend a softer interior look and it can be painted to suit the homeowner’s taste. Fiberglass frames are popular because they have a clean and modern appeal. They are durable and can withstand the harsh outdoor climate. Aluminum can be combined with wood to give a unique appeal that is at the same time durable.

The main feature of a French door is their glass panels. The glass panels can be small pieces, large panes or a combination of both. For a decorative flair, the glass panes can be tinted, stained, glazed, beveled, textured or etched according to the homeowner’s wishes. For hurricane and storm prone areas, special quality glass may be used so that it can withstand the harsh elements. French doors made of double-pane glass may have a decorative grille embedded between the panes and for single pane French doors, a decorative grille may be superimposed on top of the glass.
