Once you get inspired by a spa evening you might want to take things a step further by making over your bathroom in a wonderful spa style. This is a great way to get a pampered feeling every day of the year, whether you have the time for a delicious soaking bath or just five minutes for a quick shower. Begin by fantasizing about the bathrooms you might find in a five star hotel. Your bathroom should be at least as convenient, beautiful, and organized as some of these special spaces. Some ideas in decorating your spa bathroom are:
- Keep the backgrounds in the room simple and clean. Pastel colors are nice for the walls and will set off the white bath fixtures.
- Large, fluffy towels are a must, the largest that you can find.
- Soft terry robes on sturdy hooks should be ready for you as you exit a shower or bath.
- Store/ display towels in hotel style towel racks, rolled up in baskets, or folded neatly on shelves.
- Provide an electric towel warmer to bring cozy warmth to towels on chilly winter days.
- Use pure white window treatments and a shower curtain. Edge these with a simple border of satin or grosgrain ribbon that matches your wall color.
- Provide a basket of amenities which contains sponges, bath salts and oils, body lotions, powders, perfumes, and conditioning treatments.
- Use candles as accessories around your bathtub. Place them on elevated candlesticks to add height and drama. Light them whenever you take a bath.
- Install a dimmer switch so you can soften the room’s lighting.
- Include a beautiful fresh plant. Plants love the humidity of a bathroom.
- Gather everything needed for nail care into a manicure or pedicure basket and keep it handy for full treatments and quick polish changes.
- Place a small bench, ottoman, or chair in the bathroom. It is lovely to sit comfortably when doing a manicure, drying your hair, or waiting for a hair treatment.
- Bring in a small CD or tape player for soothing music whenever you bathe. Choose music that makes you feel serene, happy, and relaxed.
- Collect beautiful scented soaps and display them in a crystal bowl or a beautiful apothecary jar.
So when you feeling down, stressed and haggard, just head to your own home spa and relax.
