Home offices are fast becoming a trend nowadays, as many are opting to have their business based at home. From the lowly room where you sort out all your bills and balance the check book, the home office is now ready for a transformation. Planning and decorating a home office is an easy job to do, providing you will take into consideration the following aspects:

1. Color: It will be good to choose a color that will create a warm and calm atmosphere. Blend carpet and wall colors to create continuity and space.

2. Storage: The room will be used as a home office and as such, it will need storage space and lots of it. Recessed cupboards built into a room maximizes space as do overhead storage.

3. Desks: Choose a desk that will suit your needs and the theme of the home office. It does not need to be big and made of wood. Choose chair that are ergonometric so that it will give a good lower back support.

4. Lighting: Natural light is very much appreciated. Desk lamps are nice an you can also add some pendant and spot lights.

5. Flooring: Choose a flooring material that can withstand heavy traffic. Avoid carpet as much as possible as they accumulate dust.

6. Finishing touches: You can add knick-knacks as decoration but don’t over do it. Trendy storage boxes, clock and office filers will do the trick and don’t forget to add a potted plant.
