How to Maintain Dryness in Your Basement

1. Periodically clean your gutters.
2. Caulking should be applied to the joint between foundation wall and pavement.
3. Downspouts should be installed to direct water away from the house as far as possible.
4. Install a dehumidifier in your basement to control the humidity level.
5. Doors and windows in the basement should be kept closed always to prevent extra humidity to enter.
6. Annually re-grade the ground to slope aways from your house.
7. Always make sure that you have a leak-free plumbing.
8. Window wells should be cleaned always.
9. Use waterproofing paints and sealers on the walls.
10. During the installation of the house’s foundation, make sure that the contractor applies waterproofing material on the exterior wall of the foundation.
