Removing Old Wallpaper and Borders

Using wallpaper to cover your walls is popular nowadays and you might want to change your current wallpaper. It is now good to put on new wallpaper without properly removing the old one. But what is the proper way of removing the old wallpaper and borders?

Spraying the edge of the paper or the border is the first step. Let the water soak and seep into the paper for several minutes. Scrape the paper off the wall carefully to avoid damaging the paint and the wall. Use a plastic scaper and start at the bottom, wiping the drips as you go. If spraying water on the wallpaper does not work, you can use a clothes steamer instead. If the adhesive is stubborn, you can use white vinegar to dampen the wallpaper. The vinegar will dissolve the adhesive. The last resort to really stubborn wallpaper is to use commercial wallpaper remover but make sure that you follow all the direction carefully.

Whatever method you decide to use, always make sure the you start at the bottom and you wipe the drips as you go to minimize soiling and staining the wall.
